Users across the United States today are experienceing Google's (GOOG) method to celabrate and encourage participation in Climate Savers Computing Initiative's Earth Hour. Today, between the hours of 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM the Climate Savers Computing Initiative encourages individuals to turn out the lights in their house. To celebrate this occasion and too endource it Google has converted their home page to completely black with white text. This is close to the same thing that an organization called Heap Media has been doing with their site Blackle for a while now. Blackle runs on Google custom search so you get more or less the same results as a conventional Google search. One may ask, ''Why does Google not do this every day?'' The answer is, is because it does nothing. With most computers running with LCD Monitors the difference is so miniscule that it doesn't really make a difference. Now, conventional monitor do make a difference, but like stated, most people are running LCD Monitors. As the world starts to become more and more enviromentally aware it seems as though we will be effected greatly in our everyday live, by what we see and what we know. What do you think of this? Personally this style looks much better. I'm hoping that they keep it as an option for those who wnat it pernamently.

it looks SO much sexier. The coloured shadow is what does it for me  Plus in general, White text on Black bg looks better |

Cool. Earth hour is from 8-9 . I was really surprised when i saw it at first, I thought google was hacked or something xD

Yeah, I completely forgot about it after reading yesterday but that got me to remember it right away (or at least until i read earth day and not thought that google was hacked or something xD)
