If I had the choice I would run over my windows pc and throw it against a wall, smash it, throw down to the ground from 1,000 feet in the air and repalce with all iMac, MacBook (Pro as well) for myself _________________ Founder of Galaxy GUI |

windows isn't that bad i don't my vista is quite fast and i dont even have that good a setup and iv never had the blue screen the people that are complaining are the ones with the 5+ years old machines imo.
Apple isn't as perfect as you think and i would say windows is better, maybe because i need the stuff in windows more than i need the stuff in OS X. |

get a Mac only if your job really needs it; mostly for designers, photographers and the like. don't get it just because you think its cool looking or perhaps just you want to show off to the world that you own a Mac. a Mac is good but do you really deserve it? if you're just a regular user (surfing webs, torrent dl, listening to musics) its better if you just stick to a PC, be it windows or linux. don't waste your money buying a Mac when you cant even use it to its full potential.
oh, btw, i'd choose a Mac over a PC any day.. |

well i'd have to disagree wit bubblegum on a few points, if you're a regular use id do the opposite and get a mac since its designed for average users that just listen to music, surf the web, IM, etc. If youre more business oriented - go for windows, home/personal or designer user - mac, security or more advanced user - linux. _________________ Founder of Galaxy GUI |

I wish that one day people will stop discussing about which OS is better, because all of them are crap, I can tell you so many things i hate about MAC that linux has but windows dont, blahblahblah, it would be SO WONDERFUL that someone made an OS that had the best from all of them.
I love the dock on mac because it supports animations, but I don't like the fat that is acts like a taskbar, I need a taskbar. But it needs the gravity thingy that the linux dock has. I hate the Mac bar that changes in every app.
I HATE THAT THE MINIMIZE AND THE CLOSE BUTTON ON MAC DO ALMOST THE SAME THING!! and if a forget to press de f****** CMD+Q the app will remain open.
I love Compiz on Linux.
I love the games on PC
I hate crashes (I've had them on the 3 OS, so I'm not in favor with either in this), blue screen on pc, system error on linux, and a lost psd on mac, as I can remember
I hate virus, but also hate programming(linux), and I HATE not to have a defense (heard about the competition where the first hacked computer was a mac?)
I hate that ENTER on mac is return, return is delete and delete does nothing, AFAIK
I hate that mighty mouse, because I love my 20 button mouse that does everything, even open sodas lol
I love Quicklook, Adium
I hate driver but I want to be able to chose from more than 4 computers, a sony maybe? no wait, a toshiba. but mac... yo, we got mac pro black gray and white.
I love PRT SC instead of CMD+ million of buttons more
I LOVE scalable SVG icons and huge pics on my desk like with linux
And so I can go on and on, but right now, I prefer WINDOWS XP, I think MS should throw Vista to the garbage and work on a WXP reloaded or something. Ubuntu is great but i need Photoshop, and Gimp doesnt get even close. And, even with the things I hate about mac, leopard is great, i like the stacks
NOTE: I was talking MAC vs WXP (Vista is absolute crap I hate everything) vs a simple Linux distro like Ubuntu.
That's all i can think right now, I'm writing fast cuz' I gotta go to sleep, but I'll be happy to make an organized list of pros and cons if one of you wants to make my dream come true.
It's just that i hat people fighting about which one is better. I'm not in favor of any OS, ATM I use XP and I like it, last year I has Ubuntu, and it was great, and I'm trying Mac @ school, but it's hard for me still.
That's my word (or words I guess) XD |

@alxz310 you have a point there. i should be more specific about which Mac to choose. as a regular user, i guess it would be sufficient to get a Mac mini or iMac or MacBook. there's no need to get a Mac Pro if you're only going to use it to do light activities. my point is, get something that suit your needs. we all know that buying a Mac Pro for doing simple tasks is really an overkill right?
@Alter i don't really have to worry about gaming on Mac since i'm not a heavy gamer (though majority of the PC users were gamers). i only played 1-2 games ocassionally nowadays on my PC. well the sad truth is, my PC can't handle all those new games lol. i'm running on a 2002/2003 year specs (P4 1.7ghz, 768mb RAM). my main use of this PC now is for designing and doing simple web codings only. so, getting a Mac would definitely break those limitations that i have now on PC. (faster Photoshop renderings, better display etc)
Now, one thing we all agree about is, MacOSX > Windows/Linux in terms of aestheticity. at least that's what i think. |

I have some things i hate about linux Windows and Mac. Ill just follow in Alter's footsteps on this one
Mac: Hate the UI Only *LEGALLY* runs on iMac Over Hyped They gayishly coloured apple logo from a few years ago Small screen One button mouse Lack of Linux support Darwine is crap
Windows: I hate pretty much everything except that the drivers work (most of the time)
Linux: I hate drivers really is all... i can live without games while there are a ton of games anyway (Ubuntu repo's alone has many many many different ones)
Now heres my rebutle to Altar's linux bashing xD
CS2 works flawlessly on linux What system crashes. The only ones i get are when i try to select over 1946576 points in inkscape which if i try in windows i get an immediate BSOD and in linux the window just loses saturation and i can continue what i was doing before |

When you have to do some coding to make an app work, i.e. a frien of mine, tried to install Compiz and f**** his system, yeah, I know, you gotta know what your doing, but apps should be ready to install.
anyways, remember i'm not in an OS side, I'd like to see a bundleOS XD |

Are you fu***** kidding me?! Mac has the most beautiful UI of any OS... ANY! You can have 2 mouse buttons if you want and there is control + click for older computers.. linux support.. um, you ever heard of ubuntu running on macbook? Small screen.... 24" iMac, 34 (or w/e) Apple Cinema TV, 17" Mac Book Pro..... Do some research before you hate my favorite os _________________ Founder of Galaxy GUI

LOL that censor kinda blocked the wrong part LOL you fixed it
But anyway, I agree with axlz310 on the part about the mouse + linux support + screen size, kinda hard to argue that you can't have a 2+ button mouse, and macs can have a relatively small screen, but 24" on the iMac isn't small lol And I have a friend that dual boots leopard and ubuntu on a macbook
As for the ui + legality of use, the ui is just preference, I personally don't have a problem with it, but I can see why some people don't like it. the restriction of hardware on which it can legally be used can be viewed from 2 completely different aspects. Some see it as quality control, and others see it as a monopoly. Monopoly of what? Itself? Certainly not the computer market lol

The FBI uses Linux only because it has the least amount of viruses, thats what many people who run servers use as well. Though, it will soon be a huge target, just like Mac viruses are rising. |
