u guys i know i hate conforming

Mac UI sucks because i think it has lack of functinalty. i mean wtf... close and minimize are the same thing? stupid... Screen size was stupid point on my part lol, and Linux runs like shoot on the Mac's i have tried to install it on (MacBook, iMac) 24" costs too much though btw. Linux does everything i want, it has all the programs i need or it has open source alternatives that are just as good or even better (Compare LMMS to Fruity Loops and u get my point, also Office 2007 to OO.Org and i dont mean looks, i mean functionality and productivity) Firefox runs nativley. Anyone who says linux doesnt have games is a retard because if u check out happy penguin, freshmeat, sourceforge, or even google, games for linux u get a bunch of different ones and many of them are likely good enough to compete with some of the games that run on windows, and as for the games that linux cant compete with, welcome to the world of wine or a pirated copy of crossover office or even download urself a copy of VirtualBox and run an XP live CD or install on a virtual drive.

now YOU do some god damn research

PS: Linux is FREE. What else do u want? u can run it amazingly fast on an old laptop u guy off of ebay for around 200 bucks. No compiz but the point of a computer isnt pretty effects and spinning cubes, its to be productive and to automate and add more leasure to life

close and minimize same thing.........? um no.

maybe people want the design of an apple computer and the functionality and simplicity of leopard compared to a free, you install, buy a computer command-line type OS with extreme complexity and driver installation.

you get a mac, extremely easy to use, looks hot, people say OMG YOU HAVE A MAC! :O

thats the thing, if u go to Panera or Starbucks and use a macbook, ppl bombard u. if i take my shiney little Asus Eee PC ppl barely even notice. Its not about other people. Driver installation is pretty much fixed for EVERYTHING in Ubuntu 8.04 and Fedora 9 if its been written for the device. I didnt even have to manually install NVidia drivers this time smile

happy but it makes you feel good and look good that you're holding a shiny new macbook and people are admiring you xD. Asus Eee PC, no offense intended of course, but it would look like you just dont have money for a normal computer.

Geez.. everybody is getting a little testy in this thread :undecided:
Seriously people, it's ultimately a matter of preference. Fortunately for me, I think all of them are awesome (though each have their downfalls) so I'm a happy camper when using any of them.

This is like PS3 fanboys vs. xbox360 fanboys vs wii fanboys...
All can be really nice and fit a person perfectly, but there's always somebody saying, "PS3 sucks because it costs too much and looks like a George Forman grill!" because it doesn't fit them and will be answered with an equally unjustified "no, yours sucks because it costs you to play online and they look like an old Dell! (look and see)". And the guy with the wii doesn't argue because he's too busy playing tennis in his living room.

Anyway, the point is that it is just what works for some people won't for others. So people need to not argue about it and have fun on whatever OS they use. And eat cookies happy

NONONONONO!!!!

People react: You got a mac, ok, just a computer, but oh, wait, that dude has an ALIENWARE with WINDOWS XP!!! OMFHJDHHRHJ(whatever swear word you wanna put in)G!!!!!!!

Mac are just boring, the same thing with an apple, but with other OS you get to pick the color, size, flavor, want an apple?, an alien face? a stylish "Q", oh wait, want cookies with that? ok

But in mac it's just... hello welcome to mac store, we have a lot to choose from, look, black, white, gray, light gray, dark gray, black with white, white with gray. ohhh, and we have one that's silver, oh wait... it just shined, it's gray, just arrived! :O
